Aerospace actuators
In the aerospace industry, there are often the highest requirements for reliability, which is why diverse and redundant approaches are often used. This applies in particular to the actuators that are important for flight, such as aileron, rudder, elevator, landing flaps or spoilers.
In addition to the classic hydraulic actuators, electric actuators are increasingly being used for this purpose.
The otherwise typical microcontrollers are often replaced by FPGAs, which means that industry-specific SIL safety requirements can be flexibly developed in software and implemented in hardware on the FPGA. The developed FPGA software can also be reused on future FPGA platforms.
When developing VHDL code for FPGAs, adcos relies on a consistent tool chain based on HDL coder and HDL verifier from MathWorks as well as ModelSim from Siemens EDA for HDL co-simulation in MATLAB/Simulink.
